Prescription Only Medicines, on the other hand, must be prescribed by a person’s doctor or dentist.
These drugs will be labelled “POM” on their package. This mark can be found on antidepressants, insulin, and harsher sleeping medications, among other things.

Controlled Drugs

The most dangerous category of medications is controlled substances. These medications have been specifically categorised as Controlled Drugs under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, despite having effects similar to Prescription Only Medicines.
A prescription from a medical expert, such as a doctor or dentist, is also required for these medications. They’re restricted in terms of how they’re given out, stored, and administered.
All controlled drugs are labelled with the letters “POM” and “CD” on the package.
